Dickensheet Auction @ University of Colorado
Well this morning I woke up early (*this is a serious understatement) and went to the CU (University of Colorado) auction put on by Dickensheet. This auction had lots of miscellaneous crap and a bunch of PC's and other computer equipment. I went looking for Sun stuff specifically, but unfortunately, they only had Sun monitors and no actual systems.... I managed to make a few bids though, and win a couple at that.
I picked up a Sun 21" duel imput monitor, Xypex Terminal Server, Asante IntraSwitch 6224M, Cicso Catalyist 2900 series switch, and a few other pieces of junk that kinda came with one of the bids.
I hope to get the terminal server hooked up soon so I can have console access to all of my machines (and the switches). Then get the Cisco up and running so I can play with it and possibly learn a tad. I'll probably just swap out my Dell 19" Sony Trinitron on my PC with the Sun 21" and use the second port for my Ultra 5 or somthing. As for the crap that I had to take with me... there is a hub which could be of use (if I didn't already have 2 switches), some ancient video switch thing which is most likley a POS, and some old fibre hub, which is totally useless to me.
All in all it was an entertaining morning/afternoon and I left with some really good deals.
* NOTE: I actually went to bed early @ 2:00am so I would be able to function at 7:30am to leave for the auction. This of course didn't work... never really does. Unfortunately, I ended up waking up at 4:00am and not being able to get back to sleep. This is all fine and dandy except for the fact that didn't get back from the auction untiil close to 5:00pm and I had to go to work at 6:00pm until 6:00am (or later). I'm gonna be a little punchy by the end of the evening.
